Life & Lemons...

First off, want to say sorry to my blog & readers that I have hardly had any free moments during the fall/holiday season to post. Usually trying to work through piles of dirty laundry, dishes or enjoy my children! Also, Thank you to all my awesome clients for their trust, support, patience in allowing me to capture moments of your children or family! To my husband, children, family & friends...thanks for understanding that you don't get to see or talk to me much the past few months while I work long, crazy hours! Enough of the mushy stuff...

I awoke this morning to a few minutes of quiet before starting a busy work day. I chose to check out fb for few minutes & read a post on my fanpage wall. My first instinct was to delete it as most would, but I decided to shower first(lots great ideas have came in there!) & think about the best way to handle. I prayed about it "dot, dot, dot...(any Bachelor/Bachelorette fans out there,lol!)

....Lemons & my "Gran" came to mind. Gran was one of those people that everyone loved! She was sweet, kind & very wise & just darn lovable! Miss her everyday!
I often stop myself & think about what she would say or do in situations before I do something. Lemons then came to mind- LOVE the saying "Lemons to Lemonade"...

So my answer is to leave the post up. Yes, it would be easieer to delete it & even block the person,etc & just move on. But that's not me.

I am not going to comment directly about the situation because that would be unprofessional. Personal communication goes a long way, people should try it instead of hiding through social media! I will say that I know from beginning to end, I was nothing but kind, patient & professional. I provide all my clients, whether studio of hospital each with time, respect & lots of patience. Those that know me, know that I usually go above & beyond to get the perfect shots of their newborns, children & families!

I have worked hard to know the differnence between good quality photography & not so good. What I used to think was good was really not technically correct. There are alot of amateur photographers out there that people think are doing good quality work, which is whole other story. (many have wrote about it, just google it!) All I will say is that what you think is good might be that you just love the subject(s) and aren't really trained or know the difference in technically correct.

I have also learned to look at the negative situations, one's we may want to "delete" and see what I could have done differently. If nothing more that to push my self to do better! I don't think we can ever stop learning!

So that leaves me with lemons...Gotta go, going to go make some lemonade!

Wishing everyone Merry Christmas, Happy New Year & many blessings!

Caught My Attention!

Have you ever had a moment where you look at your child or one of your children & turn back around for a double take? Something CAUGHT your attention! I experience that each year with one of my girls, one has grown or changed alot. I usually notice it most when I take their photos or see it as I'm editing.

A few weeks ago, my middle daughter had a school dance that started before I got home from working. It was a casual one held in the school's courtyard outdoors. If you know her at all, she is very laid back & easy going. She always looks good, but doesn't spend hours getting ready. I would have guessed her to brush her hair, change from her school uniform.

I was sitting on the couch when she came home, walked past me & caught my attention! She looked stunning, absolutely beautiful!! She has really grown into a smart,beautiful young lady. Sometimes, you wonder as parent if you are doing a good job. I'm know I've made mistakes along the way, but I have done alot of things right. :) I talked her into letting me drag her down to the studio & capture this moment. It will be one I always remember between the two of us. See what you think...

This little sweetie is just as beautiful as her big sister!! Love her head full of long, curly hair & those big eyes, WOW!!! It wouldn't matter where we did her pictures!! She was soooo good in the high heat too! We did wear her out by the end of the session with outfit changes & our not so funny anymore songs & faces, lol! She was asleep right after they left : ) Special THANKS to her big sister for being an awesome helper & model!

Hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them!!

Stylin' Siblings... {EVANSVILLE, IN Child Photographer}

ADORABLE...seriously, I know I think all kids are! But, this pair was from the minute they climbed out of their car. Literally, from head to toe & they were so much fun in front of the camera. I think Mom & Grandma were having lots of fun just watching them surprise us! They had all kinds of their own poses, funny faces and hugs for each other! (They might have their days of not getting along but you'd have a hard time convincing me)

Can you say HOT!! It was so hot outside, but that didn't slow us down one bit. They were such good sports about it and thought it was playtime! Hope you enjoy them as much as I did...

LIFE!

LIFE...we never know what it is going to throw our way! It definitely gives us ups, downs, twists & turns,stop signs, yields, rollercoasters..just to name a few. I love life & usually take whatever comes my way. I am a strong person, a woman, photographer and most importantly mother and wife!

Sometimes something happens that just knocks us off our feet! That is exactly what happened to me recently. I don't want to talk about it much or share any specific details and not too many people other than those close to me really know what happened. Let's just say that what happened I never saw coming and it hit like a freight train or the plane that crashed into the World Trade Center. It has changed my life forever, my children's and Lucas' besides a few others close to us. I believe good is in everything & that things do happen for a reason. We can't always understand it at the time but will see it more clearly later on looking back. I believe that with this situation...and time does heal! It has been one month ago, which I can't believe in some ways. In others, time has moved at turtle pace.

I love LIFE and will continue to go with whatever it throws my way...just had to pick myself back up and get moving again. This time just took little longer. With that said, I have tons of work I have been catching up on & still working on! Thanks to everyone for their kindness, understanding & patience through this. If I haven't contacted you about something you are waiting on, I will be soon. I'm working in order! Again, Thanks!

Beautiful Senior... {NEWBURGH, IN SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER}

Miss Ashley is stunning! She is just as beautiful on the inside as the outside! Of course, I always enjoy spending time with my seniors for lots of reasons...they actually do what I ask them for poses, they have awesome clothes & are usually up for going to all the crazy places I drag them!! Usually on our adventures, we have fun and come up with some inside jokes from something that happened but it is usually more of a "had to be there moment". Well, Ashley and I have quite a few stories we could tell from this session, lol! Let's just say we met some interesting people along the way, left few things behind & had to go back for them, and a green mountain bike that didn't match anything we were doing! BUT, none of this stopped us from rockin' some great shots of her! Hope you enjoy : )

Kyle {NEWBURGH, IN SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER}

Meet Kyle... I don't have to say much, just take a look at his pics! Such a cutie! He was so easy going, relaxed & funny...which is a good thing. For senior sessions, we go anywhere & everywhere that I can find that has old, rusty, worn out looking buildings! I LOVE it!! I have been a fan way before being a photographer...my dream job is/was to Save old buildings & houses from being torn down. Plus, I love antiques...my house is full of them. I have collected since I was about 19 or so.. so quite a few years,lol. Now, I get to incorporate that love into my photography : )

Anyway, half the fun of going to places is the stuff that happens along the way... even weird guys checking on us to see if we are making a meth lab! No, for the record we were not!!! So, lots of fun & cute guy makes for great pics! Enjoy : )

Love the attitude of this HS Senior... his new tattoo reads "I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me Phil 4:13"

MY GIRLS... {EVANSVILLE, IN CHILD PHOTOGRAPHER}

My three girls... I'm sure you are all familiar with them by now. For Spring Break, I promised them some quality time with me.. so we spent an entire day at the City Museum in St. Louis with my sister and her kids. We had such a great time, a place for all ages & lots to do, especially on a rainy, sleeting, cold day.. can you believe that? We planned to go on Friday, all week awesome weather and as we are heading out the snow/sleet started. lol! We made the most of it & didn't let it slow us down one bit : ) Well, one of the other things the girls asked to do,have me shoot some pics of them. So here they are... all wearing their own clothes, showing their own styles! And yes, they are each very different...I LOVE them more for it! Hope you enjoy them...

Whitney {EVANSVILLE, IN SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER}

Sometimes as a photographer, I have to shoot for myself... What I mean by this is that I have an idea, or an outfit,a prop, or maybe all of the above! lol! I go just to play or try out new things. It is good for my soul... it increases my creativity, makes me more inspired. If I just shoot for clients all the time, then I could lose who I am as a person. I do have a style, I do have things that are "me" in every picture I take. SO.. here are few of my oldest daughter, Whitney that were taken really for me, as a photographer. The perk, I get to have amazing pictures of my beautiful daughter!

Whitney,my oldest daughter had alot of fun hanging out & playing in fun clothes! We were joined by my good friend & amazing photographer, Kim Hinkle! If you are in Southern Illinois & need a photographer, look her up!

Look at the Big Boy.. Turned 2 {EVANSVILLE, INDIANA CHILDREN'S PHOTOGRAPHER}

This little guy belongs to friends of mine...I have done his pictures for quite awhile. In fact, you've seen him as little baby standing up between his parents legs on my website... He just celebrated a birthday and I owed his Dad one! I played a joke last time we did pictures from a "moment" that happened and I just happened to catch it and was able to share with his Dad...can't tell, but he wasn't laughing! The rest of us have though... Anyway, I caught an amazing shot of him in his Dad's favorite team jersey! So the slate is clean : )
Hope you enjoy!

Two Year Old Twins...Mr C & C

Quick preview of these charming two little guys...they were alot of fun getting to know. I love children & learning from them. They are like snowflakes, no two are alike! Some laugh more, some are quieter,some are silly, some like blowing kisses...but all wonderful just how they are. And I'm lucky enough to get to catch a glimpse of them through my lens.

Growing like a weed...

My baby girl turned 5 few weeks ago! I cannot even believe 5 years has gone by, but then I say that more so with my 12 & 14 year olds. Today we got up to start our day and Lauren, my middle daughter wanted to get Maddie ready. She helped her pick out her clothes & braided her hair for her. When they came downstairs, I knew I needed to take a snap of her because she looked so cute. LOL! Lauren had told her I would want to... do they know their momma or what! I'm so glad I did- This afternoon, Maddie had a dr appt to get her ears checked. She has had problems with ear infections since she was a baby (tubes in ears, etc). I forgot all about scheduling her physical for Kindergarten at the same time. Her dad texted me late this afternoon while I was working to tell me what all she was having done. I felt so bad that I was not their with her..... for the physical she had to get shots, but even worse she has a wart we recently found right between her big toe/2nd toe (yes,for all the show lovers out there it's right where all the cute flip-flops & sandals will rub) They had previously tried to put acid on it to get rid of because freezing it would most definitely be painful. Needless to say, they had to freeze it today, ouch! I decided to head that way & wait in the lobby to surprise her (I knew they were almost done). Here they came through the doors and as soon as she saw me, those huge aligator tears came pouring out. She jumped into my arms & hung on super tight. I felt even worse that I hadn't been there to hold her hand...but so glad I decided to be there when she came out. AND even more glad I had taken the few minutes to take the photo of her this morning. I will always remember the day when I see it, the story that goes with it...

I took one of my favorite pics of Maddie last April and it was in the same outfit that she wore today. I couldn't resist putting them together and seeing just how much she has grown, fast as a weed. She is definitely looking like a little lady these days.

Few more for Miss Sophia...{EVANSVILLE, INDIANA NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER}

What a sweet, baby girl! Love her adorable little bloomers! Look how the ruffles stand up : ) I can't say enough times that I love my job. Who can resist getting to see & work with such beautiful babies as they just come into this world. I remember how tiny those fingers & toes were on my own little ones. They are so sweet & special that you can just stare at them all day long,watching them sleep & breath life into their little bodies. To be able to capture this...AMAZING! And they only stay this way for such a short time.

Sneak Peek for 6 month old Mr. E...{EVANSVILLE, INDIANA CHILD PHOTOGRAPHER}

Love his chubby cheeks, just want to squeeze 'em! He was so much fun, very happy little man! Can't wait to get through editing all of his shots to see them. He was such a good little sport... from sitting on a bench to hanging out with bears, cheering on the Cardinals and getting ready to farm!

Sneak Peek of 3month old Miss C...{EVANSVILLE, INDIANA CHILD PHOTOGRAPHER}

Quick preview of this cutie! She was little stubborn giving us her usual laughs, but when she did they were big, belly ones. I love how unpredictable children are, it always makes life interesting. Can't wait for Spring to get here & get some shots of her with her big sister : )
